Places for People funding programWhile a director of Planning SA, the South Australian state planning agency, Nathan Alexander oversaw a program funding local governments to upgrades plazas and main streets as high quality pedestrian spaces - places for people.
This program helped upgrade key public spaces across the state, from Ceduna in the west to Mount Gambier in the east. One major recipient was Moseley Square at Glenelg, arguably the state's most intensely-used and best-loved public space. As well as directly improving public spaces, the program embedded an understanding of the importance of good urban design within local government, and deepened the capacity of the local design industry. |
